a Thanksgiving message...

My precious Lord and Savior,

This year I give THANKS for YOU and everything You have done. I love You and praise You, O my Lord and God. This Thanksgiving, while others are showing gratitude for health, family, and the like, I will only give thanks for one thing...that I know Jesus Christ, the ONE who GIVES health, family, love and life.

THANKS, Lord, for GIVING Yourself on that cross for all of our sins.
THANKS, Lord, for GIVING Your love to us. Without it, we would be nothing.
THANKS...for GIVING.

just blathering

I've gotten back into collecting vintage and MOD era Barbie (and any decent repros) with a focus on Francie & her friends....

I have more Francie & friends heads it seems than bodies to put them. I have several Francie, Casey & Twiggy dolls....but I also have 3 Francies, 2 Caseys, and a few other heads that need Francie bodies. Twice now I've tried to bid on sets of Francie bodies and get outbid by $1 or so. On the latest one, it was another case of a certain bidder who kept bidding and bidding until they were in the lead. Then towards the end they bid again about 4 or 5 times. I almost never put in a bid until the last few seconds, to try & keep the price from going up. But these near misses are really bothering me. If the darn BINs on Francie bodies weren't so expensive I would simply go that route. But if I can get them cheaper I will. I'm not giving up.

One alternative solution is to use Takara Jenny bodies. They have similar proportions and can wear the same clothes and shoes. (Jenny is just a tiny bit shorter tho.) I do know of a source where I can get these for cheap, BUT to do this would mean having to alter the heads I have...as in enlarging the neck holes. Since I'm dealing with vintage items, the last thing I want to do is cut up a doll's head.

Speaking of Jenny stuff, I found what they called an African American Jenny friend. Going by the pictures (see link) she reminds me more of the black Francie dolls Mattel attempted so many years ago. To be honest she looks like a Jenny with darkened skin, and doesn't have the features of a true African-American doll.

I got her anyway, because she is unique, and I like to collect the unique and unusual dolls in Francie's world whenever I can. Ebay seller was reflectionbazaar.

Also speaking of unusual....I got what I consider to be a Casey with longer hair than most.

I've seen pictures of Casey with long hair, and have always been intrigued by them. Now I finally have one. Her only flaw is she's missing some hair on top, but otherwise she's in really good condition.

The last picture I posted (above) is on Flickr. I was thrilled to find they have a photo group for Francie dolls. I've uploaded several, but haven't gotten any comments on my pics. I don't know why tho. It bothers me, because I feel like nobody likes my pics, or me for that matter. Sounds crazy I know but that's just part of living and being me.

TTYL.

Good and bad news regarding digital accompaniments

Good and bad news.
First, the bad news...Napster has gone delete-happy and has removed most of the Word Studio Series tracks available on their site. Tracks from artists like Mark Schultz, Point Of Grace, etc. - gone. If you downloaded them as cripplewared WMAs, they will no longer work too (of course).
Christianbook.com has most of these tracks for purchase so I recommend purchasing them before they remove them, too.
I subscribe to Napster and purchase a lot of stuff there....but now I'm debating whether or not I will stay. This nonsense involving deletion of an entire series of tracks is crazy, but what do I know....

Now for good news...Praise Hymn has a site up and running that features nearly all of their past and present titles for purchase, as well as a large quantity of Mastertrax titles. This also includes most (but not all) of their Sound Performance tracks. The prices are 0.99 for Praise Hymn and Sound Performance stuff but 1.49 for the Mastertrax which is kinda high. Still, this is MUCH cheaper than paying $8 to $10 on average per song. If you're like me and are interested in singing multiple tracks by an artist, this is an inexpensive way to get them. The other downside is this does NOT include out of print Mastertrax and Benson Mastertrax, nor the Hi/Lo stuff (I point this out because Praise Hymn is now produced by Benson) and also doesn't include old single-key Praise Hymn tracks. BUT at least this is a step in the right direction.

This means that nearly every track manufacturer has their stuff available for digital purchase and download EXCEPT Christian World. They have "burn on demand" but you still have to pay full price. Also, Daywind has most of their tracks for digital purchase/download, but at $10.00 PER TRACK (except the demo) that is costly.

We've made significant progress with offering accompaniments for digital purchase and download, but there's still room for improvement. However I am satisfied with what I see. ;)

PANIC NOT!

I just wanted to share some things the Lord has been sharing with me, to help in this time of pandemic.
First of all, I believe that yes we are in a pandemic. This swine flu outbreak is terrible and we should pray for everyone
who gets it, for healing and comfort and relief.

I'm one of those types of people who are very prone to panic attacks. Every time I even think of the word "pandemic" I get nervous.
BUT I have a LORD OF THE PANDEMIC. He is mightier than swine flu! He's our great physician.

I've cried over the thought of this pandemic, and yes I've panicked too. I've thought the worst could happen.

Then....He reminds me that NOTHING will happen to me. Why? Because I have accepted Him as my Savior, I trust Him completely and surrender EVERYTHING to Him, including my fear. I will not walk in fear for it is not of God. I claim His promises and walk in faith for He is trustworthy! He's not out for revenge on His own people, altho I believe that this could just be part of the "birth pangs" leading to His imminent return. Praise the LORD!

If you are a child of God, and have accepted Him as your Savior and Lord He will protect YOU and YOUR FAMILY too!

Should we be concerned? Yes.
But the Lord reminded me over and over.....although the word "panic" is in the word "pandemic"...PANIC NOT! And fear not, for He will protect you. Read Psalm 91 and claim His promise. Then read Hebrews 13:5-6 and be assured of His everlasting protection and provision.
I just felt it was important for me to share that with everyone.

Remember: PANIC NOT, for God is on the throne and He is LORD OF THE PANDEMIC!
